1. The song DNA is the first boy group song to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart
The song DNA is BTS' entry to the Billboard chart. They are the first boy group to join and, at the same time, the second K-pop group to enter it after their senior, Wonder Girls, has also been there. They even beat Wonder Girl, who used to occupy position 76 when the song DNA rose to position 67.
2. Collaboration with The Chainsmokers.
BTS collaborated with Andrew Taggart of The Chainsmokers on the song Best of Me, included in their fifth mini-album, Love Yourself: Her. This is the first time BTS has collaborated with an American artist. To make this song, Andrew Taggart himself worked with the rapper line from BTS, namely RM, Suga, and J-Hope.
3. DNA MV became the first Kpop MV to be viewed more than 20 million times in 24 hours
MV Not Today was released on September 18th, and in less than 24 hours, it has been viewed more than 20 million times. The previous record was achieved by MV Not Today, which was watched more than 20 million times in just less than 3 days!
4. BTS's 8th Japanese single album is the most selling K-pop artist in a week
Seeing the success of the songs DNA and Mic Drop, BTS did not waste the opportunity and made Japanese versions of the two pieces and added a new song called Crystal Snow. The singles sold more than 260,000 copies on their first day of sale and made BTS the first K-Pop group with the highest sales.
5. The song Mic Drop became the first K-Pop song to enter the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100
Not wanting to lose, their remix song, Mic Drop, also managed to enter the Billboard Hot 100. Even this time, they made a more brilliant achievement. This song made it into the top 40 by occupying the 28th position and became the first K-Pop song to make it onto this list.
6. Became the first K-Pop group to perform at the American Music Awards (AMA's)
BTS popularity is unmitigated. Their achievement managed to occupy the first Kpop group at the AMAs (American Music Awards) in November 2017! They performed with the song DNA. Artists were amazed when BTS performed at the AMAs.
All the fans rejoiced and sang along.
7. Became the first Kpop group to be nominated and win at the Billboard Music Awards
WOW! BTS is the first K-pop group to be nominated and won at the Billboard Music Awards in May 2017. They entered the Top Social Artist category, where they went up against Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes, and Ariana Grande to win in this category. Support and votes continued to flow from Army since the first day of voting opened, and their hard work paid off with the winning trophy that BTS brought home.
8. Became the first Kpop group to be nominated and win at the Annual Shorty Awards
Like the Billboard Music Awards, BTS is also the first K-pop group to be nominated and win at the Annual Shorty Awards. They succeeded in the music category and beat other opponents, namely Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Chance the Rapper, Drake, Ingrid Michaelson, Mac Miller, Missy Elliott, Solange, Tegan & Sara, 1975, and Twenty One Pilots.
9. Appear on The Ellen Show and various television shows in America
The Ellen Show is the first American talk show ever attended by BTS. And Ellen herself seems impressed with BTS and Army because of their extraordinary and worldwide popularity.
On this show, they talked about RM's English skills, songs, and whether they had any contact with the Army, to which V, unfortunately, answered no.
The Ellen Show, BTS also appeared on several television shows in America, such as Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Late Show with James Corden.
10. Became the second K-pop group to be nominated and win at the Teen Choice Awards
BTS is the second group to be nominated and win at the Teen Choice Awards after previously in 2015 Super Junior was also nominated and won. They succeeded in the Choice International Artist Awards category.
However, many fans were disappointed because when the Bella Throne winner was announced as the host, it seemed as if they were in a hurry to promote it and could not allow fans to celebrate their idol's victory. Fans thought they should at least show a photo or video of BTS when announcing the winner.
Congratulations on the success. Hopefully, year after year can live more success than in 2017.
