What is BTS "Film Out"? - BTS released the Japanese song "Film Out" and the music video in April 2021. The song was produced by Iyori Shimizu of the Japanese rock group Jungkook. The song "Film Out" will be included in BTS' Japanese album "BTS, The Best" as well as the soundtrack of the Japanese film "Signal." Now, regarding the music video, BTS again takes the storyline from Bangtan Universe (BU), an alternative world from the lives of BTS members. In this universe, one of the stories that exist is about Jin, who has the power to control time and can save the other members.

Many theories are circulating among ARMYs regarding the storyline in the "Film Out" music video. Among other things, this song is for ARMY, who will lose BTS when the time comes. Some say that the figures of Suga and J-Hope are part of the album concept "Map of the Soul: 7", namely between Shadow (Suga) and Ego (J-Hope) as in theory developed by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung.

Here is also one of the theories from ARMY regarding the "Film Out" video and lyrics.

1. SAND HOUR

We are shown the scene of Jin holding an hourglass. In the music video for "Fake Love," Jin struggles to protect the hourglass when the explosion occurs

We are shown the scene of Jin holding an hourglass. In the music video for "Fake Love," Jin struggles to protect the hourglass when the explosion occurs. It's different from this scene because when the time is up, Jin looks calmer. He lets the time in the hourglass run out with a sad face, then an explosion in the room occurs. It was as if Jin had gotten used to the situation.

2. Explosion

The explosion scene in the "Film Out" music video feels so familiar because it has previously been in the music video for the song "Fake Love" with Jin, who was also in the exploded room

The explosion scene in the "Film Out" music video feels so familiar because it has previously been in the music video for the song "Fake Love" with Jin, who was also in the exploded room. Explosions that occur can symbolize Jinn's emotions that are out of control and signs of mental instability.

3. TIME MACHINE

Jin becomes an essential character in BU (Bangtan Universe), where he can time travel to save the six BTS members. This is depicted in the scene after everything explodes.

Jin then opened a door, but there was no way out. Seen so many doors open with the same dead end. This depicts how much Jin has traveled through time to make everyone happy again in the storyline.

4. SHADOW

The next scene is when Suga raps with a place like a desert in the background, and a frame that resembles a mirror is seen in the back.

According to the lyrics of this song. "You, in my imagination/ In my heart, you are so real in life/ As if you were there. But when you stretched out my hand, you suddenly disappeared".

In a place like the desert, we will feel a mirage phenomenon. We see something that is not real and often imagines. The image of J-Hope appearing on the other side of the frame is also a fantasy because, in fact, they can't be together.

It's the same with Jin and the other six BTS members, who are separated into two rooms that look the same but are different because they are just a figment of imagination.

5. SOLASTALGIA

The opening scene of Jungkook standing in the middle of this room has such a deep meaning. It looks like almost all of the property has been covered by a white cloth, like an empty house that has been inhabited for a long time. Then Jungkook returned and looked at his past memories when he was happy with the other members. This theory of solastalgia means a feeling of sadness when you see that your past environment has changed and you can't do anything.

The theory is described with Jungkook standing alone in the middle of an empty room. Then, he saw the other members were in the room, realizing when he saw his hourglass had run out and finally disappeared.

6. DO SOMETHING

In the BU story, V becomes another character who has an important role and attachment to Jin, who can travel time. V can discover what happened to the other members through dreams in the story. Likewise, Jin, who was tormented by time, traveled many times.

In the final scene, V and Jin face each other in two different rooms. V also tries to help Jin, indicating that Jin is not fighting alone.

7. COVID-19

This song tells about someone missing something, but he can't do anything. Can only feel the memories left in his heart and imagination. Because they have been separated in different times and dimensions.

Almost all the scenes in the "Film Out" music video are indoors. This illustrates our condition during the pandemic, and we can only do activities indoors, separated from family, friends, and other relatives. The only thing that can keep us connected is through pictures or movies. By the title of the song, namely "Film Out,."

The scene of Jin opening the door also has another meaning, namely, the state of the outside world that has changed and is no longer the same as the memories we have. In fact, many of us have lost loved ones during the pandemic.

However, the song "Film Out" aims to make listeners feel comfortable and self-healing despite all that. After so many sad things that we've been through, everything will still be okay because we'll still be together in our hearts.
